Winterize Your World Wednesday: What's S'more Fun Than This? Published on January 26, 2016 Who remember s’mores? Memories of sweet chocolate melted just perfectly by the heat of a nicely toasted marshmallow and tucked into two crisp graham crackers. Yummm! Usually those scrumptious memories are linked to nights spent camping or outdoor parties. But our friends Ashley and Jamin Mills, who blog at The Handmade Home, recently threw their three little ones an indoor s’mores party and we think it’s a fabulous way to cure the winter doldrums. Warming up with gooey treats? We’re in! The Mills family used cans of Sterno, like you would use for fondue, and the skewers from a fondue pot to toast their marshmallows. But if you have a fire going in the fireplace, why not use that and “old-fashioned” wire coat hangers to toast your marshmallows? (If you are into it, you can actually make marshmallows from scratch. Be warned, you will have to use a candy thermometer. It’s definitely a cooking project that has to be supervised by an adult.) If you’re like Ashley and Jamin, you may want to put a little twist on your s’mores. Here are some of their suggestions: The Granola: Graham crackers, milk chocolate, marshmallows, granola bars + peanut butter. Southern Strawberry: Graham Crackers, milk chocolate, marshmallows + sliced strawberries Mint Chocolate: Graham crackers, marshmallows, and Andes mints. Cookies + Creme: Graham crackers, marshmallows, + cookies ‘n’ creme white chocolate. If you’d like to take your s’more party up a notch, head on over to The Handmade Home and get free, printable labels for your ingredients . Then turn up the furnace, pour everyone hot chocolate, and party on! Are s’mores not the heat you were hoping for to warm you up this winter?
